This dual-focus role is critical to our supply chain, combining strategic transportation scheduling with cost-effective purchasing to support our short- and long-term business goals.

Job Summary

The Logistics and Procurement Officer will manage the end-to-end flow of goods and fleet operations. You will be responsible for designing efficient delivery routes, scheduling our fleet of vehicles and trucks, and managing company purchasing. By balancing logistics optimization with strategic sourcing, you will ensure we minimize operational costs, maximize vehicle utilization, and maintain high service standards.

Key Responsibilities

Logistics & Fleet Scheduling (approx. 50%)

  • Route Planning & Optimization: Design and review transit routes to reduce delivery times, minimize fuel consumption, and optimize truck wear-and-tear.
  • Scheduling & Dispatching: Create and manage daily, weekly, and long-term schedules for all vehicles and trucks, ensuring prompt dispatch and delivery.
  • Fleet Utilization: Monitor vehicle capacity and distribute workloads efficiently to maximize driver productivity and eliminate idle time.
  • Operational Coordination: Serve as the main point of contact for drivers, resolving road delays, breakdowns, or sudden routing changes in real-time.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure all transport operations adhere to local road safety laws, weight restrictions, and environmental regulations.

Procurement & Buying (approx. 50%)

  • Strategic Sourcing: Identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with reliable suppliers, vendors, and service providers.
  • Purchasing & Negotiation: Source goods, materials, and spare parts, negotiating competitive pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules to maximize cost savings.
  • Purchase Order Management: Prepare, review, and process purchase orders and maintain accurate records of all procurement transactions.
  • Inventory Control: Monitor stock levels to prevent shortages of critical operational supplies while ensuring capital is not tied up in excess inventory.
  • Quality Assurance: Inspect received goods to ensure they meet Chengeto Holdings’ quality standards and resolve disputes regarding damaged or incorrect shipments.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Professional Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Purchasing and Supply, Transport Management, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • 3 to 5 years of experience in a dual logistics and procurement/purchasing role (or proven success managing both functions separately).
    • Hands-on experience coordinating commercial trucks, dispatch operations, and driver teams.
    • Strong background in negotiating supply agreements and managing vendor relationships.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in Fleet Management Software (FMS), GPS tracking systems, and procurement/ERP software.
    • Advanced MS Excel skills for data tracking, cost analysis, and scheduling.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Exceptional organizational and multi-tasking abilities—able to balance scheduling demands with purchasing requests.
    • High integrity, strong negotiation skills, and commercial acumen.
    • Prompt problem-solving capability in high-pressure situations.
